ORGANICS & MILLETS 2019
INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR

The ‘Organics & Millets 2019 – International Trade Fair’ will be held in Bengaluru from
Jan 18-20, 2019 at the Bengaluru Palace. This event is being organized by the Dept. of Agriculture, Govt. of Karnataka, in collaboration with KAPPEC as the Nodal agency, International Competence Centre of Organic Agriculture (ICCOA) as the Knowledge Partner, and MCA as the Event Partner.

The ‘Organics & Millets 2019 – International Trade Fair’ will be inaugurated by
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy, in the presence of Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture Shri N.H Shivashankara Reddy and other dignitaries.

The ‘K-SOURCE’ Karnataka Pavilion will showcase the smart agricultural policies,
practices, technology, climate, and soil of the state which make Karnataka not just
a producer but the enabler of Next Gen Smart Food, new businesses, technology,
producers, consumers and markets.

The Trade Fair will have a prominent and unique ‘Jaivik India’ section for Organics
& Naturals, which have been identified as a growing demand area. It will be a common meeting place for organic networks from across the world to share expertise, knowledge, and business practices. For Karnataka, it would offer a major platform to showcase its organic produce, diversity and the overall competence of farmers/ farming groups. Over 1 lakh people including traders, visitors and farmers are expected to converge at this showpiece event.

Major Components of the Event

Exhibition

The event will feature a world class exhibition from leading companies in organic agribusiness. It will have companies as well as producers’ exhibiting a wide range of organic products. Farmer groups who are with organic certification through third party or PGS, fair trade and sustainability standards will be present.

B2B Meetings

This is an integral part of the Trade Fair wherein good buyers for organic producers (including exporters, wholesalers and retailers) will be brought to meet with suppliers and farmer groups to negotiate and transact real business. B2B Meet will provide an important linkage with the farmers’ groups and market.

International Conference

The International Conference will be held for two days, on 18.01.2019 (afternoon) to 20.01.2019 (morning) in 2 different halls. It will bring in eminent national and International speakers and delegates. It will be a platform to share knowledge and latest developments with organic stakeholders, policy makers, government and businesses.

Organic Food Courts

This component is being planned by the organizers to create awareness about organic food and its relevance to food safety, health and environment. It aims at establishing link between ‘Organics’ & ‘Consumers’, which will go a long way in strengthening domestic markets

Organic Food Court

Organic Food Court offers a variety of delicacies made with millets and other organic ingredients. This not only makes people understand the importance of producing organic food but also gives them an opportunity to taste healthy food in order to influence them to change their food habit and lifestyle.

Buyer-Seller Meet (B2B)

The main objective of this B2B Meet would be to provide a marketing forum for organic products from the state for producers, farmers, farmer groups, local organic producers, domestic and international buyers, to meet, interact, develop contacts.

Farmers’ Workshop

Since farmers are potential organic-agripreneurs, UAS proposes to organize a 03-day intensive workshop-cum-training. The main objective is to make them aware about the existing scenario of the organic world.

Consumer Connect Program

This component will focus on creating awareness about organic food and its relevance to food safety, health and environment, special activities like Cooking competition for home-makers, demonstration of various ways of cooking Millets-the forgotten foods.

of new opportunities. The quest is on to secure the interests of our farmers, our planet and
yet meet the nutritional needs of a soaring global population. Need of the hour is for each one
of us to consume sustainably. Future smart foods are the solution. Millets are one answer and
organics the other.

In the State of Karnataka, our roots, our land and our climate drives the quest for smart foods.
Our farmers have combined indigenous and innovative methods to pioneer the organic and millet agriculture movement. Millets and organics are good for the planet, the farmer and for our health.
Our organic agriculture sector is gaining momentum with markets experiencing double digit growth year-on-year. Millets have emerged on the scene as the new nutri-cereals. Millets and organics are fast emerging as the Next Gen smart foods, being highly nutritious, farmer -friendly and ecologically sound.

Government of Karnataka, under the guidance of Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture,
Shri N.H Shivashankara Reddy , is organising the ‘Organics & Millets 2019 International Trade Fair’.
The Fair will address all aspects of the value chain, from farm to shelf, in organic and
millet segments. It aims to create/enhance new markets and opportunities in organics
and millets.

We invite Farmers, Food Industry Representatives, Buyers, Sellers, Distributors, Scientists
and Activists from across the world to join the quest and explore opportunities in Organics and
Millets, the Next Gen Smart Foods.
